The Victorian Government has introduced the ‘Working with Children Act 2005’ which came into effect on 1st July 2009. The WWC Check applies to adults who are engaged in volunteer roles involving children.
- Any parent who intends to enter their child in a Region or State event, do not require a WWC Check, as they will be required to be present and officiate on the day their child is participating.
- However, if they volunteer to be a Key Official, by nominating to the Region or the LAV for State events, then they are required to have a WWC Check, as they could be officiating on the day when their child is not participating.
Therefore, these people fulfilling a nominated role at Region and State Little Athletics (including cross-country) need to complete a WWC Check (available from Australia Post branches).
It may be that some of you already have a current WWC Check. That's great! If you are planning to be a nominated official at Region or State events, please ensure that you update your WWC details to include Little Athletics Victoria - Waverley 34 on a Change of Personal Details Form.
Also, please refer to the Little Athletics Victoria website for further details.
